ECI announces bye-election for three more assembly constituencies of Manipur

<span style="color: #222222;">Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced bye-election scheduled for three more Assembly Constituencies of Manipur and altogether bye-election voting will be held in five Assembly Constituencies of Manipur on November 7.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">  </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">ECI had already announced bye-election for Lilong and Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituencies on September 29 while bye-election for three more Assembly Constituencies- Wangoi, Saitu and Singhat was announced yesterday. With the announcement of the election schedule by the ECI, the model of code of conduct comes into effect immediately in the entire district of Kangpokpi, Thoubal and Churachandpur whereas in Imphal West district, it will be applicable only in the assembly segment of Wangoi AC as it falls within the capital district.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">  </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Manipur's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)- P.K. Singh held a press briefing this evening at Imphal in connection with State's preparation for the upcoming bye-election.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">  </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Singh said that preparation for bye-election under guidelines from ECI has almost completed. During the bye-election voting, latest mark III EVM and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be used. Postal ballots will be available to elderly persons, persons with disabilities and those COVID-19 patients who are under quarantine.</span><br />
