EC urges parties to avoid public meeting in extremely heat conditions

Election Commission has urged all political parties to avoid holding public meeting in extremely heat conditions while undertaking election campaign. The Commission's advisory came in the backdrop of complaint and representations from various citizen groups regarding hardship faced by the citizens during the public meeting organised in the prevailing peak summer days.<br/><br/>A few incidents were also brought to the notice of commission where some person have died during election meeting due to exposure to extreme heat. The Commission also said, public meeting venue should have adequate facility of shelter, drinking water and medical aid to safeguard the public from the sweltering heat.
