EC to visit WB to review poll preparedness

The full Election Commission will visit West Bengal on 28th of this month, a day after third phase voting to review the poll preparedness for the remaining three phases. Dr S.Y.Quereshi, V.S.Sampath and H.S.Brahma will be in Kolkata on Thursday and will interact with leaders of political parties to ascertain their views on electoral issues. The full Commission will also meet the observers and civil and police chiefs of the districts going to polls in the remaining phases.The Commission will also take stock of the law and order situation, besides poll preparedness in its meeting with the Chief Secretary and DGP of the State in the evening before returning to Delhi. AIR correspondent reports that the visit of the full Commission in the midst of the ongoing poll process is unprecedented and is mainly in view of elections due in Maoist dominated districts of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia.
