EC to review Bihar’s poll preparednessThe full election commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner S. Y. Quraishi has arrived in Patna tonight to review the poll preparedness for Bihar Assembly elections. AIR Patna correspondent reports that during the two day visit to the state the Chief Election Commissioner along with two other commissioners will take stock of the arrangements being made for the smooth conduct of six phase poll. This is the first visit of the full election commission to Bihar after dates for the Assembly elections were announced. The Commission will hold discussions with the District Magistrates, SPs, DIG and IGs of the state. The commission will also meet the representatives of various political parties on the poll related issues. Earlier, leaders of different political parties had requested the Chief Election Commissioner, S Y Quraishi to deploy jawans of central Para military forces on every booth, to ensure free and fair polls. For the first time the election Commission is setting up a monitoring division headed by a senior official to check the use of money power during the poll process. The six phase poll for 243 seats begins from 21st of next month and concludes on 20th of November. Votes will be counted on November 24.
