In the wake of general elections due next year, the Election Commission has asked all states to prepare error- free electoral rolls. In detailed instructions issued to Chief Electoral Officers, CEOs, the Commission said that only eligible persons should be enrolled and there should no ineligible persons or duplicates on the rolls. It also said that wrongful deletions of voters from electoral rolls must be checked. The Commission has asked the CEOs to ensure that all entries pertaining to the name, age, address and other details of voters are entered correctly in the electoral rolls. The Commission instructed relevant officers to ensure that electoral rolls are completely free from errors.
