<span style="color: #222222;">Technical Experts Committee of Election Commission has  reaffirmed non-tamperability of EVMs, in the wake of claims made by a self proclaimed cyber expert on EVM tempering. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The committee members said ECI-EVMs are stand-alone machines designed to connect only amongst EVM units through cables that remain in full public view.  They also said there is no mechanism in EVMs to communicate with any device through wireless communication on any Radio Frequency.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In a statement, the Commission said the EVMs are regularly tested for proper functioning under all kind of operating conditions.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">On the allegation of the cyber expert  about the two side printing of VVPAT paper which allegedly retains lower tampered print while the front side print as verified by the voter, getting erased, the Technical Experts Committee  clarified that VVPATs use thermal printers which can print only on one side of thermal paper. The print is fully visible through the viewing window. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The paper rolls used in VVPATs have only one-sided thermal coating and hence can be printed only on one side. The VVPAT paper print lasts at least for five years.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The CMDs of Bharat Electronics Limited and Electronics Corporation of India Limited, who are the sole manufacturers of EVMs and now also VVPATs, also reaffirmed that all prescribed Standard Operating Procedures are scrupulously adhered to and observed.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The poll body, however, reiterated that while  EVMs might malfunction sometimes like any other machine due to component failures and stop working, but even such a malfunctioning  EVM will not record any vote incorrectly.</span><br />
