EC team on three day UP visit to assess poll arrangements

In Uttar Pradesh, a team of Election Commission will be reaching Tuesday afternoon at Lucknow on its three day visit to the state to assess the poll arrangements for the ensuing forthcoming assembly elections in the state next year. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the Election Commission officials will be meeting top state officials and representatives of all the recognised political parties at the state capital during their stay. The Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Jutsi will be meeting today with state officials and chief electoral officer of the state at the state capital. He will have separate meeting with the District Returning Officer and District Magistrate of Lucknow. Officer on Special Duty of Chief Electoral Office CM Misra told AIR correspondent that the delegation of the Election Commission headed by the Chief Election Commissioner Dr. SY Quraishi will be meeting representatives of the recognised political parties at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday. The Commission would hold review meetings in connection with poll preparedness with all divisional commissioners and district magistrates on July 21. The EC delegation will also hold meeting with the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home) and the Director General of Police on this day separately. Besides Dr SY Quraishi, the Chief Election Commissioner, the delegation will include Election Commissioners V S Sampat and H S Brahma, Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi and Director General of the EC Akshay Raut.
