The Election Commission has issued show cause notices to BJP President Amit Shah, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, after it held they had 'prima facie' violated the Model Code of Conduct in force for Bihar Assembly elections. It said, Mr Shah had prima facie violated the Model Code with his remark that if his party loses Bihar elections, crackers will go off in Pakistan. During an election rally at Raxual in East Champaran district on Thursday, Mr Shah said that if BJP loses in Bihar, Diwali will be celebrated in Pakistan. <br/><br/>The Commission also issued a show cause notice last night to Mr Rahul Gandhi for his remark that BJP makes Hindus and Muslims fight each other. Quoting from his election speech made on 29th of October in Benipatti in Madhubani district, the Central poll panel recalled that he had said wherever there is an election, BJP makes Hindus fight the Muslims.<br/><br/>The Election Commission also slapped a showcause notice on RJD Chief Lalu Prasad for his reported remarks against Amit Shah. Besides, it referred to Lalu Prasad's reported remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. <br/><br/>All these leaders have been given time till 3 pm on Wednesday to explain their stand failing which the Election Commission shall take a decision without any further reference to them. Meanwhile, the Commission also cautioned JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav for his reported remarks aimed at influencing voters in the name of divine displeasure made on 7th of October in Nalanda.
