A team led by Tiruchirapalli West Electoral Officer and RDO Sangeetha seized unaccounted cash amounting to five crore eleven lakhs rupees packed in gunny bags atop an omni bus on Tuesday. Acting on a tip off that money is being transferred to be distributed among the voters; the team seized the money and handed it over to IT officials. This is the highest amount to be retrieved in the State by the Election Commission officials as part of curbing influence of money during elections.
