EC seeks report from WB govt after BJP leader complaints of sting attempt by cops

Acting on a complaint filed with CEO today by BJP leader Rahul Sinha, Election Commission has sought a report from the West Bengal Home Secretary by tomorrow. An ASI and one constable of the Kolkata Police's special branch were taken into custody last evening following a complaint by Mr. Sinha. They were released from the custody last night as no formal complaint was lodged against them, nor any cash or video clip in their cell phones were found.

Mr. Sinha has alleged that both the cops were trying to make a video sting of him on behalf of TMC to silence BJP on the Narada sting issue. The TMC last night denied the charge. Officials at Lal Bazar Police Headquarte?r?s said both the accused cops will remain suspended until report of a departmental probe is filed in the matter. Mr. Sinha today demanded removal of the Kolkata Police Commissioner, alleging that two junior cops could not have acted without his directives and involvement.
Congress' Dipa Dasmunsi and other leader?s? also said that such a conspiracy can not be executed without the involvement of the Police Chief.
