Election Commission has sought a report from District Magistrate of Hathras about alleged derogatory comments made by Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister against State Lokayukta.

Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha said that the commission will initiate action against Ramveer Upadhyaya after getting the report. He has said that directions have been issued for videography of public meetings and rallies organised by the political parties and their candidates.

BJP has submitted a memorandum to the Commission and the Governor seeking action against the Minister for his comments. Congress and the Samajwadi Party have also criticised the Minister.
