EC says it stands unanimous on issue of free reporting by media

The Election Commission of India has said that it stands unanimous on the issue of free reporting by the media.<br />'' <br />''In a statement released today in the light of few press reports regarding its position in relation to the media, the Commission asserted that before any decision is taken by it, appropriate deliberations are always done.<br />'' <br />''The Commission affirmed that it is sincerely committed to its faith in free media and each one of its members recognises the positive role played by the media in the conduct of all elections in the past and present and in strengthening electoral democracy in the country.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">It added that the Election Commission was unanimous regarding the decision that there should not be any prayer for restriction on media reporting before the Supreme Court. Emphatically asserting, that the Election Commission's approach on the collaboration with the media is that of a natural ally which remains unchanged, it added that the poll body recognizes the media's role in enhancing effectiveness of election management. </span><br />
