EC satisfied with Assam’s preparedness to conduct smooth LS polls

The Election Commission of India has expressed satisfaction at the preparedness of the state machinery to conduct smooth Lok Sabha polls in Assam.

Talking to newsmen in Guwahati today, Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath said that complete neutrality will be maintained and affective complaint redressal machineries are being put in place by the Commission. He said that the full Commission held discussions with representatives of political parties and government officials.

Mr. Sampath said that Village Awareness Groups will be set up to promote ethical voting. The Election Commission has ruled out changing of voting schedule in Assam as demanded by some political parties.
