EC reviews poll preparedness of remaining phases in Bihar

In Bihar, Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi reviewed election preparedness for the fourth and fifth phases of assembly polls at a meeting in Muzaffarpur today. Talking to media after the meeting, he said that it will be the personal responsibility of District Magistrates and superintendent of police to ensure that no voter is intimidated in these areas. He said that district administration has been strictly directed to maintain social and communal harmony specially during festivals. He said that from now on vigil will be kept in these areas during night also. It was also decided in the meeting that the security forces will be used to build confidence among vulnerable sections. <br/><br/>Expressing full satisfaction over poll preparedness, Mr. Zaidi said that political parties have given suggestions regarding implementation of the model code of conduct, minimum basic facilities at polling booths, paid news and deployment of central security forces and the election commission has taken cognizance of these suggestions. <br/><br/>Mr. Zaidi said expenditure monitoring committees have impounded more than Rs 38 crore so far. Election commissioners Achal Kumar Jyoti and O P Rawat, chief electoral officer of Bihar Ajay Nayak, Distinct Collectors, Senior Superintendent of Police and other higher officials of 16 districts which will go polls in these two phases, took part in the meeting.55 assembly segments will go to the poll in fourth phase while 57 seats will face polling in the fifth phase.
