The full bench of the Election Commission reviewed the Lok Sabha election preparedness in West Bengal with the representatives of the recognised political parties of the state in Kolkata this morning. The full bench led by the Chief Election Commission V.S.Sampath and two other Election Commissioners arrived in Kolkata last evening on a two day visit to the state.
After reaching Kolkata, the team met the district officers of Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, and Darjeeling districts which are going to the poll on 17th of this month. Later in the day, they will meet the District Magistrates, Superintendent of Police and observers of all remaining districts to review the poll preparedness. The Commission will also meet the top brass of the state administration to assess law and order situation . Our Kolkata correspondent reports that deployment of Central forces and other security related issues are likely to be discussed at the meeting to ensure free and fair voting.
