The Election Commission, EC, has rejected Janata Party leader Subramaniam Swamy's plea, seeking de-recognition of the Congress Party.
Taking serious exception to Swamy's allegations questioning the impartiality of the Election Commission, it also rejected his allegations as completely baseless. The Commission said, Mr. Swamy has failed to show that there had been any violation of model code of conduct.
In his petition, Swamy had contended that the Congress should be de-recognised following news reports that the party had loaned 90 crore rupees to Associated Journals Ltd, which is in violation of the guidelines for recognition of the party.
