EC rejects Dhinakaran's plea to defer hearing on two-leaves symbol case

Election Commission has rejected a plea of sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran for grant of 15 days additional time to submit affidavits in the party symbol dispute case. <br/><br/>It also said the hearing will take place as per schedule. <br/><br/>Last week, the Commission had set 29th of September as the deadline for all concerned parties to submit documents ahead of the hearing on 6th of next month.<br/><br/>Earlier this month, the Madras High Court had directed the<br/>Commission to decide before 31st of October the matter relating to AIADMK symbol. Prior to the merger, the two factions led by O<br/>Panneerselvam and V K Sasikala had staked claim to the symbol and the poll panel had frozen it.<br/><br/>Later, a large group of legislators led by Chief Minister E Palaniswami revolted against Sasikala, who is in jail in a graft case, and announced merger of the two factions.
