In Kerala, close on the heels of assembly elections the state Election commission has banned the recent cabinet decision to extend provision of rice at two rupees per kilogram to all ration card holders. Citing violation of model code of conduct Chief Electoral Officer Nalini Netto asked the state government not to distribute forms and seek votes on the scheme.
