Election Commission has asked the government to withhold 4.5 per cent sub-quota for minorities in five poll bound states for now.

The Commission order says that the direction will remain in force till the poll process is over in these states.

The government has taken a decision on 22nd of last month to give this share to minorities out of 27 per cent OBC quota.

The matter was brought to the notice of the Commission by several opposition parties.

They complained to the poll panel that it is violation of code of conduct.
