The Election Commission has ordered videography of entire process of filing of nominations for the Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh.
In Uttarakhand, about 900 candidates have filed their nominations for 70 Assembly seats. The filing of nominations ended on Thursday in the state. Scrutiny will be held today. The state would go to poll on 30th of this month.
In Punjab, 1880 candidates have filed their nominations for 117 seats. Thursday was the last day for filling nominations.
In Manipur, nomination papers of 11 independent candidates have been rejected today after scrutiny for the State Assembly elections on the 28th of this month. With this, the nomination papers of 271 candidates have been found in order for the 60-member State Assembly polls.
In view of the militant threats, personal security is being provided from today to all the candidates who have sought security protection. State Inspector General of Police L K Haokip told AIR News that after the last date of withdrawal of candidature on the 14th of this month, security protection will be provided to all serious candidates.
Meanwhile, the first phase deployment of Central Para-military Forces for the elections has been completed today with 151 companies of the security personnel reaching at their destinations.
The second and third phases of security deployment will be started from the 15th and 21st of this month. Besides state forces, altogether 350 companies of Central Para-military Forces will be deployed for the State Assembly elections.
