The Election Commission today issued a notice to the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for alleged violation of model code of conduct by his speech at a rally in Chhatisgarh.
Mr. Modi's had termed the Congress election symbol as Khooni Panja and Zalim Haath at a rally in Dongargarh last Thursday. In its communication to Mr. Modi, the Commission prima facie observed that his remarks have violated the model code of conduct. The Poll body has asked him to explain by 16 of this month why action should not be initiated against him.
The commission issued a notice after receiving a complaint from the Secretary of AICC legal department K C Mittal in this regard. The party accused Mr. Modi of making malicious and defamatory remarks by referring to the Party symbol.
