EC notice to Modi for alleged violation of model code of conduct; Also asks Rahul to be careful during election campaigns in future

The Election Commission today issued a notice to the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for alleged violation of model code of conduct by his speech at a rally in Chhatisgarh.
Mr. Modi's had termed the Congress election symbol as Khooni Panja and Zalim Haath at a rally in Dongargarh last Thursday. In its communication to Mr. Modi, the Commission prima facie observed that his remarks have violated the model code of conduct. The Poll body has asked him to explain by 16 of this month why action should not be initiated against him.
The Election Commission also expressed displeasure over certain public utterances of Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi during poll campaign. The Commission asked him to be careful during election campaigns in future. In his speech in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan last month, Mr. Gandhi had said that Pakistan's ISI was in touch with Muzaffarnagar riot victims and had charged the BJP with indulging in politics of hatred.
The poll body had issued notice to Mr. Gandhi following a complaint by BJP over his remarks. In his reply, Congress Vice President had refuted the allegations.
