Election Commission says, over eight lakh polling station areas will register new voters on 25th of this month- the “National Voters' Day”. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi this evening, the Chief Election Commissioner S. Y. Qureshi said, this will be the single biggest exercise to enroll new voters.Giving details of the programmes undertaken by the Commission, Mr. Qureshi said that the new voters will also have to take a pledge that they will not vote ever under any influence.The Commission launched nationwide initiative to enroll fresh voters with a focus on youth as a part of its diamond jubilee celebrations. He said, the Commission organised four symposiums in different parts of the country to promote participation of young voters and the final was held in New Delhi today in which Election officials of nine States participated.A photo exhibition was also inaugurated depicting the journey of Indian electoral process. Our Correspondent reports that the Election Commission has announced an award of one lakh rupees for a District Election Officer practicing best electoral practices every year.

EC launches nation wide initiative to enroll young voters
