Election Commission has issued show cause notice to the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for allegedly asking people to secretly give funds for campaign during an election meeting at Jalandhar. The Commission has asked Badal to explain his stand by Friday evening in this regard. It said that prima facie, Badal, by making the statement on 12th of this month, had violated the Model Code of Conduct and also incited others to violate the law. The notice was issued to him following a complaint filed by a Punjab Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira in this regard.
