Election Commission has issued a show-cause notice to Trinamool Congress, TMC, chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee for violation of the electoral code-of-conduct by announcing to make Asansol a separate district. <br/><br/>Addressing a Press conference this evening in Kolkata, CEC, Nasim Zaidi said Ms. Banerjee has been directed to explain the announcement and some other comments made by her during the electoral campaign.<br/><br/>Answering another question about repeated remarks made by TMC's district chief in Birbhum, Anubrata Mandal, threatening opposition parties undermining the Commission's show-cause and censure, Mr. Zaidi announced that proper legal action will soon be initiated against such person.<br/><br/>The opposition parties have lauded the Commission's move while Ms. Banerjee reacted in disregard, saying that no one can snatch her democratic right to speak. Addressing a campaign rally at Suri in Birbhum today, the TMC chief said she had uttered the right thing and will do so a thousand times. She called for the people to give a befitting reply to the Opposition parties' conspiracy against her by voting for TMC and regain every inch of the state.
