The Election Commission has issued show cause notice to Steel Minister Beni Prasad on alleged violation of Model Code of conduct. The Commission has asked him to reply by Monday evening on his minority sub-quota remarks. The Minister had earlier termed the controversial comments as a slip of tongue.

After examining the video footage of his speech made in Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh, the Commission issued the notice.
