<span style="color: #222222;">The Election Commission has issued a notification today for conducting local body elections in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The polling for Gram Panchayats and Municipal Council will take place on 6th March. Nominations can be filed from today to 11th Feb till 3 PM. The last date to withdraw nomination is 14th Feb. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on 12th Feb. Results will be declared on 8th March. Now, the Election campaign will speed up following EC's guidelines.<br />''<br />''The Gram Panchayats election is to be conducted through ballot papers while EVMs-VVPAT machine will be used for the Municipal Council election. Control rooms have been set up for receiving complaints regarding violations of Model Code of Conduct through phone lines. Prior to this, the Commission has issued guidelines for conducting elections during Covid-19. Only two persons are allowed to come with the candidate for filling nomination. Only two vehicles will be used for nomination.</span>&nbsp;<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">It is to mention that local bodies elections were due in A&amp;N Islands in Sept. 2020. The due elections were postponed in view of Covid-19 pandemic. There are overall 70 Gram Panchayats in the islands, out of which 68 will go to polls except for Netaji Nagar and Hut Bay in Little Andaman. The islands have only one Municipal Council i.e. Port Blair Municipal Council and two Zila Parishads.</span><br />
