The Election Commission has served a notice to Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi for allegedly announcing some sops at a public meeting in Kannur where an Assembly bye-poll is scheduled for the seventh of next month.<br/>The notice has been issued to Ravi on Tuesday for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct and asked him to reply in 48 hours.<br/>Addressing the election meeting on the 16th of this month, the Minister had allegedly announced a financial grant of five lakh rupees for sports facilities at Nirmalagiri college and promised to recruit hundreds of youth to the Union of European Nations. The CPI(M)-led LDF in Kerala had earlier lodged a complaint against Mr.Ravi with the EC in this regard. <br/>
