The two factions of the AIADMK today informed the Election Commission about the merger and the resolutions adopted at party's general council meeting including on the ouster of interim general secretary V K Sasikala. <br/><br/>An AIADMK delegation met the Commission in New Delhi and countered the claims of the rebel camp led by Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dhinakaran that the resolutions are invalid. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters after the meeting, party leader K P Munusamy said the Commission has been informed that the two factions headed by O Panneerselvam and E. Palaniswami have merged to protect J Jayalalithaa's legacy and respect sentiments of party cadres. <br/> <br/>Earlier in the day, the Commission had fixed the date of 5th October to hear the dispute over the AIADMK poll symbol. It had given the rival factions time till 29th of this month to file fresh submissions. <br/><br/>Last week, the Madras High Court had directed the Election Commission to decide the matter related to the symbol before 31st of October. <br/><br/>Nearly six month back, the two factions led by O Panneerselvam and V K Sasikala had staked claim to the symbol.<br/><br/>Later, a large group of legislators led by Chief Minister E. Palaniswami revolted against Sasikala, who is in jail in a graft case, and announced merger of the two factions.
