In Bihar, the full Election Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner S. Y. Quraishi is having discussions with representative of political parties at Bhagalpur to take feedback on the necessary steps to be taken to avoid poll malpractice during Assembly elections in the state. Leaders of Congress, BJP,JD (U),RJD,LJP,NCP,BSP,CPI and CPM have submitted their memoranda and apprised the Commission of their demands. The two Election Commissioners V.S. Sampath and H.S.Brahma are also participating in this discussions. During the two-day visit to the state, the Election Commission will take stock of the arrangements being made for the smooth conduct of the first four phases of polls in the state. AIR Patna correspondent reports that leaders of different political parties have requested the Chief Election Commissioner to ensure deployment of central paramilitary forces at every booth during polling. After meeting with political parties, the Commission will hold review meeting of election preparedness of 89 constituencies. In this regard, the Election Commission will hold discussions with Observers, District Magistrates, SPs, DIG and IGs of those areas where the first and fourth phase of elections are to be held. The Election Commission will review election preparedness for the second and third phase of elections on Wednesday at Muzaffarpur. The six-phase poll for 243 seats begins from 21st of this month and concludes on 20th of November. Votes will be counted on November 24.
