EC gives 4 more days to Rahul Gandhi to reply to its notice

The Election Commission has granted four more days to the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to reply to its notice in connection with the violation of model code of conduct by his speeches in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The Commission in a communication has allowed Mr Gandhi to reply to its notice by 8th of this month. Earlier, Mr Gandhi who had been asked to reply by today, had sought one more week's time to reply to the notice on a complaint of violation of model code .

The Commission had issued notice to Mr Gandhi on a complaint lodged by the BJP. Mr Gandhi in his speeches had said that Pakistan's ISI was in touch with Muzaffarnagar riot victims and charged BJP with indulging in politics of hatred.

Meanwhile, Congress today denied that the party has any problem in replying to the notice of Election Commission issued to Mr Gandhi. Party spokesperson Meem Afjal said that well thought out reply will be given to the Commission.
