EC frames charges against Ashok Chavan in paid news case

The Election Commission has framed charges against former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the alleged paid news case and furnishing of incorrect accounts of his election expenses.

The Commission also asked former Maharashtra Minister Madhavrao Kinhalkar and BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Kirit Somaiya, the complainants in the case, to furnish all their evidence in the form of affidavits to the poll-panel by the 4th of next month.
It asked Mr Chavan to produce evidence to rebut the case made out against him by the complainants.
