The Election Commission has expressed satisfaction over poll preparations in Uttar Pradesh. The full Elections Commission, in Lucknow on Thursday, reviewed preparations for the next years Assemblyelections in the state. Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi told media persons that all District Magistrates have been asked to complete electoral rolls and distribution of the Election Photo Identity cards in next two months. The Commission has launched a toll-free helpline in the state for registering complaints related to Assembly polls. Dr Quraishi said, the dates for Assembly elections in 5 states including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab will be announced in consultation with the states concerned. He said, some political parties from Uttar Pradesh have requested for early elections in the months of January and February in view of the hot weather, harvesting season and scheduled competitive examinations.
