Election Commission, EC, has expressed regret over a large number of names missing in voters list in Mumbai for which election was held on Thursday. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Election Commissioner HS Brahma termed it as a massive operational mistake and said it would be rectified. He also said, he could not understand how so many names could go missing in such a compact area. A large number of voters, including noted personalities, had to return disappointed from polling booths as their names did not figure in the in the voter list.
The BJP has asked the election authorities to undertake an exercise to revise electoral rolls.
Meanwhile, the NCP criticised the opposition parties for their outcry about missing names in the voter list, saying if there were any errors they could have got them rectified before the polling.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded an all-party meet on the issue.
