The Election Commission has directed the West Bengal government to arrest all those persons whose names figure in the FIRs on assault of two Election Commission personnel at Manik Chak in Malda district yesterday. In its communique to the Director General Police, the Commission has also instructed to send compliance report by 5 P.M. today.

Our Kolkata correspondent reports that two Trinamool congress workers were arrrested by the Malda Police in connection with the incident. Two Election commission personnel were beaten up allegedly by the Trinamool congress supporters when they were video graphing the bike rally at Manik Chak in Malda. Bike rallies are not permitted during campaign as per election commission rules.
