EC cracks down on influence of illicit liquour in Bihar Assembly elections

The Election Commission has instructed the authorities in Bihar to take a stern action against those found using liquor for luring the voters. AIR Patna correspondent reports that massive raids are being conducted to seize country made illegal liquors from different places of the state During raids over one lakh eighty six thousand litres of illegal liquor has been seized. In this connection two thousand eight hundred cases have been registered and about one thousand five hundred persons have been arrested. A fine to the tune of over 25 lakh of rupees has been slapped on the culprits. Officials have been instructed to put video surveillance at all storage points and keep a close watch on the production of various spirits.
