Chief election commissioner Nasim Zaidi has said that the Commission is committed to conduct free and fair Vidhan Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing a press conference in Lucknow today he said the Commission met various political parties and other stake holders of the election process. Various political parties expressed apprehensions about misuse of money and muscle power during the elections. <br/><br/>Dr. Zaidi said there are 13.80 crore registered voters in the state till date which is likely to go up as the electoral roll revision process has started since September 15. He said that Commission will make all efforts to enhance the voting percentage from last time's 60% ?to nearly 80%. He said that this time seven type of 'Assured Minimum Facilities' including potable water and electricity apart from conducive environment will be provided at all the one lakh forty seven thousand polling stations in the state. <br/><br/>CEC said that this time Commission will closely monitor all the police stations .A comprehensive data base is being prepared of all the police stations CEC said.The Commission will also ensure the installation of maximum number of CCTV facility and webcasting at the polling stations. The Commission will carry out special drives in the month of October to maximise the strength of the voters.
