EC bribery case: Delhi police brings AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran to Chennai

The Delhi Police today brought the AIADMK Amma party Deputy General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran to Chennai as part of its ongoing investigation into the 'attempt to bribe Election Commission official' case.<br/><br/>It is alleged that he made efforts for getting the impounded 'two leaves' symbol for his party ahead of the RK Nagar Assembly Constituency bye-election. The tout Mr Sukesh Chandrasekhar was arrested on the 16th of this month from a star hotel in Delhi with 1.30 crore rupees cash in his possession.<br/><br/>His revelations led the Delhi Police Crime Branch inquiring into inter-state crimes to arrest Mr Dhinakaran on Tuesday night in Delhi after four days of inquiry. Mr Dhinakaran's close associate Mr Mallikarjuna was also arrested by the police. After taking them under their custody for five days, the police took them to Chennai to corroborate the evidences and held inquiry in the residences of the two accused.<br/><br/>The police are reportedly planning to take them to Bengaluru and Kochi as well. Mr Dhinakaran's supporters said the case is a political conspiracy against him. The CPI state secretary Mutharasan and the VCK leader Thol.Tirumavalavan have said details about the targeted recipient of the money from the Election Commission should be made known to the public.<br/><br/>The police are trying to gather more details about the channels of money transfer made for allegedly paying an Election Commission official to get the 'two leaves' symbol. They are said to be planning to confront the two accused with the alleged middleman Sukesh Chandrasekhar to unravel the finer details of the crime including the money trail.
