In Uttar Pradesh,the Election Commission has banned victory processions after the counting of votes tomorrow. State Chief Secretary Javed Usmani directed officials to enforce ban orders strictly.

Mr.Usmani also directed a strict vigil to be maintained in all districts for at least 15 days, or more, after the announcement of results. Besides, a close watch would be kept on celebrations by winners after the declaration of results tomorrow.

Addressing officials through video conferencing yesterday, Mr Usmani directed them to prevent any tension and violence during counting of votes and celebrations.

The administration would keep extra vigil on the losing candidates to prevent any law and order crisis. Mr.Usmani said no unauthorised person would be allowed within 100 metres of the counting station. He directed officials to maintain extra vigil in their respective districts for two weeks after declaration of the results.

Our correspondent reports that a three-tier security arrangement is in place at counting centres. Supporters of rival parties will not allowed to gather at the counting centres. Counting of votes will be held at 76 centres across the state.

Only Raebareli will have two counting centres whereas all the other 74 district headquarters will have one centre each. The Election Commission has appointed 112 General Observers and ten Special Observers to keep a close eye over the counting.
