The Election Commission of India has banned the conduct of any exit poll or its dissemination in any form from the first phase to the final phase of Bihar assembly elections. Chief Electoral officer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh told AIR that the ban would also apply to the bye- election to the Banka parliamentary constituency. This imposition will be effective from 7 a.m on October 21 to 5.30 p.m. on November 20.Display of any election matter including the results of any opinion poll or any other survey by electronic and print media have also been prohibited during 48 hours after the conclusion of the polls in every phase.AIR Patna correspondent reports that ban in effect stops television news channels as also dailies from airing or publishing the findings of both exit and opinion polls during the period of the assembly elections..While, the scrutiny of the nomination papers for 47 seats in the first phase of Bihar Assembly election was completed today. AIR Patna Correspondent reports that altogether 711 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the first phase of elections in the state. For this phase candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till Thursday. The first phase of election will be held in 47 constituencies of the Assembly on October 21. Nomination for the second phase and third phase is continuing. Tomorrow is the last day of nomination for the second phase. 410 candidates have so far filed their nomination papers .
