The Election Commission has rejected West Bengal government's plea for reconsideration of transfer of eight officials.

Talking to AIR the spokesperson of Election Commission said that the poll body has reiterated to West Bengal Government to comply its order by 10 AM on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary of West Bengal on Tuesday morning written to the Commission to reconsider its Monday's order transferring one District Magistrate, two additional DMs and Superintendents of Police of Malda, Murshidabad, Burdwan, West Midnapore and Jargram. But, the Commission stuck to its decision.

In an apparent reaction to the Election Commission's order on Tuesday, State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she will abide by the constitution, but will not accept any insult to her State.

Without naming the Election Commission, Banerjee told at an election rally in Purulia District on Tuesday that she is not afraid of threats from Delhi.

West Bengal Pradesh Congress President Adhir Chowdhury has criticised Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee for her comments against Election Commission.

He said in Kolkata on Tuesday that she should be behind bars for her comments. Chowdhury alleged that Mamta Banerjee had planned to unleash terror during the elections but with the Commission's order to transfer the officials her plans have gone haywire.
