In Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission has asked poll related officials for ensuring proper security arrangements at border areas with Nepal and inter-state borders during the Assembly elections. The Commission has also instructed that strict implementation of model code of conduct must be on priority.While reviewing the poll preparations in the districts schedule in first four phases of elections, Chief Election Commissioner Dr. S.Y. Quraishi and Election Commissioners V. S. Sampat and H. S. Braham said that sufficient security forces would be available for free and fair elections. They also asked the administrative and police officers to work in impartial manner to conduct forthcoming Assembly election in free and fair way. They said that credibility of the state administration was at stake as most of the political parties had lodged their complaints about partial activities of officials particularly police. They assured the officials that adequate security forces would be available for free and fair elections.A meeting of officials from remaining 36 districts related with districts falling in the fifth, sixth and seventh phases will be taking place today. The EC team will later hold parleys with the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Home and DGP afterwards.Most of opposition parties have demanded for immediate removal of several senior-most administrative and police officers, including Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh, Principle Secretary- Home, Fateh Bahadur and Director General of Police, Brijlal for their alleged biased working in favour of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party.Meanwhile the Election Commission has lodged 60 FIRs in different cases for violation of model code of conduct and has acted in more than 2,50,000 cases where guidelines were being flouted. About Rs 6.50 crore unaccounted cash has been seized at different places till now after announcement of assembly election from Ghaziabad, Faizabad, Bareily, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Allahabad, Moradabad, Ghazipur, Mau, Barabanki, Rama Bai Nagar and Varanasi districts.In the mean time, the BJP has released its fourth list of candidates containing 46 nominees for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The party has already announced its 301 candidates for different constituencies.In the fourth list, the BJP has re-nominated all sitting MLAs from Lucknow.
