In Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission asked today to the administrative and police officers to work in impartial manner to conduct forthcoming Assembly election in free and fair way.While reviewing poll preparedness with district magistrates and district police chiefs from 39 districts along with concerned Divisional Commissioners, Inspector General of police IGs and DIGs the Chief Election Commissioner Dr. SY Quraishi and Election Commissioners V S Sampat and H S Braham said the officials that effective measures must be taken for distribution of Electorate Photo Identity Cards EPIC and voters slip to the electorates. They said that the Commission has already decided that polling would be taken place on the basis of EPIC so that its preparation and distribution must be insured. They said that credibility of the state administration is on the stake as most of the political parties have lodged their complaints about partial activities of officials particularly police. They assured the officials that adequate security forces would be available for free and fair elections. Earlier, representatives of different political parties met the full Commission at Raj Bhawan and reiterated their demands for immediate removal of several senior-most administrative and police officers including Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh, Principle Secretary- Home, Fateh Bahadur and Director General of Police, Brijlal for their alleged biased working in favour of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party. The Bharatiya Janata Party handed over an 18 point memorandum to the Commission. The Congress has raised some objections over implementation of model code of conduct against the provision of representation act. Party has said that before nomination no body should be treated as candidate. Parties have also lodged complaints some DMs and district police chiefs. Parties including BSP have demanded immediate deployment of central Para military forces to insure free and faire Assembly elections. Left parties have demanded that putting party flags and poster on public places should be allowed. The full Election Commission reached this afternoon at Lucknow to review poll preparedness for next Assembly Elections scheduled in seven phases in the month of February.Meanwhile, the Election Commission has lodged 60 FIRs in different cases for violation of model code of conduct and has acted in more than 2 lakhs 50 thousand cases where guidelines were being flouted. About 6 crore 50 lakh rupees unaccounted cash has been seized at different places till now after announcement of assembly election from Ghaziabad, Faizabad, Bareily, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Allahabad, Moradabad, Ghazipur, Mau, Barabanki, Rama Bai Nagar and Varanasi districts.
