Election Commission has appealed to voters of Gujarat to come out in large numbers in the second phase of polling for Assembly Elections. Surat, Rajkot and Jamnagar recorded lower than State average of voter turnout of 63.3 per cent in the first phase. The Commission said, during recently held Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections, Shimla recorded the lowest voter turnout of 62.53 per cent against the State average of 75.6 per cent. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar noted the voter turnout figures with concern.
