The election schedule has been announced by the Election Commission.Lok Sabha polls will start on 7th April.

The elections will be held in nine phases upto 12th May. Counting will be held on 16th May. Updated electoral rolls as of 1st January 2014 has been published in all states.

The Chief Election Commissioner Mr. V. S. Sampath has said that the NOTA option will be used for the first time in Lok Sabha polls. The Model Code of Conduct comes into force with immediate effect.
