The Election Commission has announced 25th January as Voter Awareness Day. To promote awareness campaign in a unique way, hotel owners at Matheran have decided to give huge discounts to the tourists, who would vote in civic elections before going on vacation. <br/><br/>Such tourists would get 20 per cent discount in tarrif, said Anil Patodia, president of Matheran Hotel Owners' Association. <br/><br/>It has been observed that instead of voting, people prefer to go on vacation which affects the final voting percentage. To prevent this, Election Commission recently convened meeting of hotel owners at Matheran, Lonavala and Mahabaleshwar. <br/><br/>It was decided in the meeting that discounts in tariff would be given to those who vote. It was also decided that those who won't vote, wouldn't be given the rooms. The decision would also be uploaded on websites of hotels.
