After a week-long dry spell, the monsoon is expected to be active again at many places in central and eastern India.According to Indian Metrological Department, a low pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal. It would move west-northwestwards across Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. As a result, rain would occur at many places in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and parts of Jharkhand and Bihar. Weatherman says monsoon would remain active for the rest of this month raising hopes of farmers of a good crop.So far, the country has received 22 per cent deficient rains this season. 63 per cent of the area had deficient or scanty rainfall.Meanwhile, heavy rain lashed several parts of UP during last 36 hours. It disrupted normal life in many districts. AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that Maximum 19 cms rainfall has been received at Meja in Allahabad district followed by 16 cms rain in Fatehpur 13 in Amethi and Pratapgarh, 10 each, Rae Bareilly, Sonebhadra and Mirzapur districts.Following incessant rains, water level of many rivers have increased. Budi Rapti River in Siddhartha Nagar and Rohin in Maharajganj district are very close to danger level. Water level in river Ganga and Yamuna are also increasing as several places. Due to heavy rainfall road traffic, telecommunication and power supply are badly affected in several districts including Allahabad, Sultanpur, Rae Bareilly, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar, Ballia, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Sonebhadra and Pratapgarh. Rain water has entered several houses, schools and office buildings. Incessant rainfall has brought an end to the humidity of the past few days in eastern region of the state.Weathermen has forecasted rain and thundershowers at most places over eastern region a few places over the western parts in the next 24-hour. They have also warned of heavy to very heavy rain at few places over eastern UP in the next 48-hour.
