East Bengal has regained the Federation Cup Football title. In a nerve-wrecking final played last night, East Bengal defeated Dempo Sports Club 3-2 in extra time at the packed Kanchenjunga Stadium at Siliguri in West Bengal. The scores were level 1-1, after the end of the stipulated 90 minutes. Climax Lawrence opened the scoring as Dempo took the lead in the 50th minute. East Bengal right back Arnab Mondal equalised 10 minutes later, bringing the Kolkata giants back into the game.East Bengal, who were playing their 16th Federation Cup final, took an unassailable lead when Manandeep Singh and Edeh Chidi found the net in extra time. Dempo's Mahesh Gawli then reduced the margin by scoring in the 112th minute, but it was a little too late.East Bengal had earlier won the Federation Cup title in 2010.
