In Assam, an earthquake measuring six point four (6.4) magnitude rocked Guwahati and its neighbouring areas at 19.23 hours this evening. The epicenter of the quake is said to be the border areas of India and Myanmar. AIR Guwahati Correspondent reports that cracks developed in several high-rise buildings following the moderate intensity jerks which continued for around 30 seconds. There was, however, no immediate report of casualty from anywhere in the State.An earthquake measuring six point four (6.4) on Richter scale rocked Meghalaya and other neighbouring states in the North East at 7:24 in the evening. Major tremor lasted for 30 seconds. According to Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, epicenter of the quake was Manipur-Myanmar border at 24.8 Latitude North and 94.5 Longitude East. Minor tremours are still recorded on Richter scale but is not felt by humans. There was no immediate report of any casualty from anywhere in the North East.In Arunachal Pradesh a moderate earthquake hit the state in this evening at 07.24 pm today.According to the office of the Meteorological Department, Shillong, the tremor measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale occurred with its epicentre at 24.8 degrees north Latitude and 94.8 degrees east Longitude. The epicentre of this earthquake was Mayanmar-India border region. There were no immediate reports of any casualty or damages in the state. In Imphal, an earthquake measuring 6.5 Richter scale has occurred. The epicenter of the earthquake was in CHIN wind river, 88 km from Imphal. The earth quake occurred at 7.24 p.m. and remained for more than 10 minutes.
