In Assam, an earthquake measuring six point four (6.4) magnitude rocked Guwahati and its neighbouring areas at 19.23 hours this evening. The epicenter of the quake is said to be the border areas of India and Myanmar. AIR Guwahati Correspondent reports that cracks developed in several high-rise buildings following the moderate intensity jerks which continued for around 30 seconds. There was, however, no immediate report of casualty from anywhere in the State.An earthquake measuring six point four (6.4) on Richter scale rocked Meghalaya and other neighbouring states in the North East at 7:24 in the evening. Major tremor lasted for 30 seconds. According to Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, epicenter of the quake was Manipur-Myanmar border at 24.8 Latitude North and 94.5 Longitude East. Minor tremours are still recorded on Richter scale but is not felt by humans. There was no immediate report of any casualty from anywhere in the North East.
